In October of 2016, my wife, Elisabeth, and I will fly to Seattle, Washington, where, for a few days, we shall organize our pre-shipped equipment, re-assemble our bicycles and enjoy a bit of city fun. Then we will pedal approximately 45 miles to the trail head for the John Wayne Trail. The JWT will take us east over the Cascade Mountains to Ellensburg, Washington. From there, we travel south to the Columbia River Gorge, east to Portland, Oregon, and, finally, south to San Diego, California, along the Pacific Coast Highway.
The journey, all told, is approximately two thousand miles and will take us from six to eight weeks to complete. While on route, and even before we arrive in Seattle, I shall be writing stories about our adventure and posting them here.
This will be the first Big Adventure Elisabeth and I have taken together — and the first time the After-Fifty Adventure Man will hit the road wrapped in the super-hero cape of his new persona. We hope you will follow along with us!
